Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF) is a refined engineered wood panel tailored for fine decoration and customized furniture, featuring ultra-smooth surface and uniform internal fiber structure. It is manufactured by crushing wood raw materials into micron-level fine fibers, mixing with environmental resin adhesives, and molding through high-temperature and high-pressure compression. Different from plywood’s layered grain and particle board’s rough particle surface, MDF has no internal texture gaps or fiber directions, presenting a seamless flat surface. In terms of mechanical properties, MDF has balanced and stable comprehensive performance. Its uniform fiber distribution ensures consistent stress resistance in all directions, avoiding the directional strength difference of plywood. It has moderate bending resistance and good flat pressure bearing capacity, and is not easy to crack during fine cutting and processing. Nevertheless, MDF has inherent weaknesses in moisture resistance and heavy-load performance. Ordinary MDF is easy to absorb water and swell in humid environments, with poor waterproof and damp-proof effect. Its long-term heavy-load deformation resistance is inferior to plywood, so it is not suitable for building structural parts.
